While Austin is in the throws of SXSW, it’s also St. Patrick’s Day this Friday. Austin is more than ready to celebrate with family friendly festivals, epic block parties, and beer specials all around. We’re lucky to live in Austin.
1. St. Patrick’s Day Austin
Hosted by the Celtic Cultural Center of Texas, St. Patrick’s Day Austin is an all-day live music event that features traditional Irish folk musicians and dancers. They also serve traditional Irish eats and brews. The Gaelic League of Austin will be teaching Gaelic to anyone who wants to learn. The event also has lots of family friendly games and activities. Get your tickets here, for only $15.
2. Fadó Irish Pub & Restaurant
The fine folks at Fadó are shutting down W 4th Street to throw a bangin’ block party all day Friday. There will be a beer garden, cocktail stations, and live music all day. Tickets are being sold at the door. View the performance lineup here.
3. Jack and Ginger’s Irish Pub
Jack and Ginger are shutting down Rock Rose starting at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Cover doesn’t start until 1:00 p.m. and live performances begin at 2:00 p.m. Don’t miss the lunch-time “Guinness Dance Off” or any of their great cocktails.
4. Antonelli’s Cheese House
In honors of St. Patty, Antonelli’s is hosting a “Booze Washed Cheese” Class. The class will feature seven cheeses that are washed with some type of alcoholic beverage to add to the cheese’s flavor. There will be drinks available, but there is also a BYOB option.
5. North by Northwest
The NXNW location in Stonelake is putting on a St. Patty’s Day party benefiting AIDS Services of Austin. The event has two live performers and fun activities for kids. They are busting out a special Irish Stout and Red Ale. To fill everyone’s tummies, they’re also serving up gourmet Irish stew and soda bread.
