Bleed Orange at a UT Football Game
At 11:00am on Saturday the Longhorns will be kicking off their season with a home game against Maryland. The two teams haven’t faced off since 1978, and Maryland has come a long way since their 42-0 loss to the Longhorns, so it could be anyone’s game! Even if you don’t score tickets to the game you can still enjoy the excitement and competition while feasting on burgers and hot dogs and sipping an ice cold beer at one of the many tailgating spots just outside of the UT campus.

Cool off at a Pool Party
This weekend many locations in Austin will be throwing pool parties to celebrate Labor Day and the end of summer. Leave work a little early and head to the W Hotel Wet Deck on Friday from noon until sundown for live music from DJ Fashen. They’ll also be throwing a party on Labor Day, tickets for both days are $20 and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Houston Flood Relief Fund by JJ Watt. If you’re on a budget this weekend, MVP Vodka is hosting a FREE pool party at the Edge Rooftop Pool & Bar at the JW Marriott downtown on Friday as well, from 4:00-10:00pm. The party will celebrate Labor Day and the kick off of UT football season with free drink tastings, appearances by former NFL & Texas All-American players, and a grand prize giveaway! The Belmont on West 6th will also kick off and close out Labor Day Weekend with their Splash Days pool parties on Friday and Monday! And of course there’s always Barton Springs Pool. Argus Cidery will be kicking off their Fourth Anniversary Party at 11:00am at Barton Springs with an “Apple Bomb Jump” Competition. Participants in the competition must be 21 years or older and will be judged for their jump off the diving board based on originality and splash factor! With temperatures expected to be back up in the 90s, lounging by the water sounds like the perfect way to spend the long weekend.
